Someone’s covered the ‘Frasier’ theme tune in the style of The National

Hey baby, I hear the blues a-callin'…

The National's Matt Berninger and Frasier's Kelsey Grammer

Fans of The National have been voicing their delight after a cover of the Frasier theme tune recorded in their style appeared online.

Recorded and shared on Twitter by composer Bobby Lord, the rendition imitates frontman Matt Berninger’s dulcet tones along with a similar rhythm, melody and guitarwork to that of ‘Bloodbuzz Ohio’.

With The National set to return to the UK to perform at British Summer Time in Hyde Park with Florence + The Machine this July as part of their extensive summer festival plans, fans are hoping that the band will drop a new album later this year.

Last summer, The National revealed they were “beyond the halfway point” with progress on their next album, which guitarist Bryce Dessner said was driven by a certain “looseness” and “an energy that’s evaded us in the past.”

Drummer Bryan Devendorf added the new album would be “more than just a record.” “The other material that’s accompanying it is basically inspiring the record,” he said. “It’s a collaborative project. I’ve said too much already…It’s not a big deal, it’s just different to everything else we’ve done. There’s a new element to it. That’s why Matt [Berninger, frontman] is rewriting everything.”

Meanwhile, after it was reported that Kelsey Grammer was ‘exploring’ a Frasier reboot, he later said that claims of a reunion were ‘a little premature‘.

Grammer confirmed that he had “talked about a couple of ideas…kicked around where the therapist might live now and what relationship could anchor the show” now that the actor who played Frasier’s cantankerous father, John Mahoney, passed away in February.
